SLT Mobitel partners Lanka BPO Academy for mLearning
The National Mobile Service Provider, SLT Mobitel recently partnered with Lanka BPO Academy to deliver a continuous service of the online learning initiative ‘mLearning’ that facilitates distance learning for Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI) courses.
Lanka BPO Academy is the island’s very first organized, global initiative of capacity building for the rapidly growing Information Technology & Business Process Management industry (IT-BPM) in Sri Lanka. Lanka BPO Academy today operates on up to date curricula and state-of-the-art training systems and is working closely with some of the most prestigious organizations and institutions cantered around the IT-BPM industry. Lanka BPO Academy is the leading institute for CISI maintaining highest pass rate globally.
mLearning is an exclusive purpose-built globally accessible content delivery and learning platform that has been conceived, designed, developed and deployed by SLT Mobitel. mLearning allows the students and lecturers to connect to live real time virtual classrooms from anywhere in the world, where they can interactively engage in the lectures as they would in normal classrooms. All aspects of the mLearning classrooms are 100% interactive. mLearning creates a vibrant educational stage which explores new frontiers of knowledge and matches it with the dynamic needs of global markets.
Now with SLT Mobitel mLearning anyone can obtain the CISI qualifications at a fraction of the cost while at home or in any part of the world. Following a professional qualification program through mLearning also avoids the hassle of spending time and money that is usually incurred on transportation, student accommodation amongst other expenses which are often a difficulty for students.
The qualification would lead to various international & global careers in finance & banking such as financial analyst, business analyst, fund management, corporate finance etc. Unlike many qualifications available in Sri Lanka CISI is regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) under UK government ensuring the recognitions across the globe.
The CISI is the professional body of choice for professionals in the securities and investment industry in the United Kingdom and in a growing number of major financial centers globally. Formed in 1992 by London Stock Exchange practitioners, CISI have a global community of more than 40,000 members in 121 countries and last year more than 41,000 CISI exams were sat in 73 countries.
‘As more and more people in Sri Lanka start to invest in stocks and other securities it is important that there are enough qualified people to provide them sound advice as such people are in short supply at the moment. This partnership of Lanka BPO Academy with SLT Mobitel ‘mLearning’ will produce more qualified professionals to this industry.’ President of CISI National Advisory Committee, Sri Lanka Nihal Fonseka commented.
SLT Mobitel Chief Operating Officer Nalin Perera stated on the partnership, “mLearning was designed to break the barriers of the conventional education systems with the support of ICT, with the intent of providing greater learning opportunities to all students around the world. With this partnership with Lanka BPO Academy, it will indeed do so by offering more students a wider variety of qualifications relevant to the finance industry and help to fill the gap of the same”.
