What is mInsurance? Validity period?
  • This is an insurance cover which can be obtained by Mobitel prepaid and post-paid customers by sending a SMS.
  • BENEFITS
Type of Cover Value of the Cover per Unit
Natural Death Cover LKR100,000.00
Accidental Death and/or Permanent disability Cover LKR500,000.00
  • This cover valid only for a month. (To be covers under a particular month the premium for that month has to be paid in the previous month)
    Eg: If the customer wish to be covered under this policy for the month of February he/she should pay the February premium during January. If the premium is not deducted he wont be coverd for the month of February. If he/she paid the premium in February he/she will be covered for the month of March.
  • Once a customer subscribe to this service the premium will be automatically deducted for the relevant month.
How to subscribe and de-subscribe?
  • To subscribe type “reg” and send it to 220
  • To desubscribe type “dreg” and send to 220
Who can subscribe?

Any post/pre customers excluding the following categories at the initial stage.

  • Mobitel corporates
  • Mobitel Demos
  • Liyasara
  • Customers without a valid NIC
  • Customers age below 18 and above 65

Charges?
  • Rs.50.00 (Inclusive of all taxes) per month
  • SMS to 220 Rs.2.00 (taxes) per SMS (Mobile originate)
  • Dialing 220 Free
How to nominate the nominee?

By sending a letter/form/alteration form with following information

  • Customer’s mobitel number
  • Nominee’s name, contact number and address
  • Nominee’s NIC copy

Note: Nominee’s age should be above 18

How to claim?
In case of a claim customer should submit the relevant document to Mobitel and Mobitel will direct the document to Janashakthi insurance to process. For further clarifications on the submitted documents the customer has to coordinate with Janashakthi and the relevant contact details will be provided to the customer by Mobitel contact center.
Terms and conditions?

Terms and condition can be accessed by dialing the IVR code 220 or via www.mobitel.lk Exclusions : (Subscribers will not be covered under this policy subjected to the followings)

  • Pre-existing physical conditions
  • Engaging in Hazardous sports
  • Flying except as passenger
  • Self inflicted injury
  • Under the influence of Alcohol and drugs
  • Riot & Strike
  • War, Civil war etc.
  • Radio-active Contamination
  • While on duty as a Military service etc.

From 20th to 27th of every month if the customer does not have enough balance for installation deduction You do not have sufficient credit to pay your mInsurance fee. Please recharge your account. mInsurance
Installment deduction successful message mInsurance installment was deducted. You are eligible for insurance cover for the month of mInsurance
Installment deduction failed at the last day of the month No sufficient credit to deduct the mInsurance installment. Your insurance cover will not be valid for the month of . You are de-registered from mInsurance service. To register type “Reg” and send it to 220. Rs. 50 per month mInsurance
Subscriber not within the age limit of 18 years to 65 years sends ‘reg’ to 220. Sorry. You are not eligible for mInsurance cover. Your age should be between 18 years to 65 years. mInsurance
